IAN ZEIGLER

The story so far

From art school to broadcast TV to my own studio.

Chapter 01 · Spark

Pre-Professional Internship

My senior year in high school, I interned at two top industrial design firms, Fitch and Priority Designs.

It was my first look at how real design gets made, from sketching and research to prototypes and models. Fitch recruited from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and that planted the seed.

Chapter 02 · Roots

Cleveland Institute of Art

I started in Industrial Design, fell in love with Maya and ray-traced rendering, and transferred into T.I.M.E. (Technology Integrated Media Environment).

I realized 3D could reach every field I loved, from architecture and interiors to medical animation, manufacturing, and product visualization. Along the way I also worked in drawing, painting, sculpture, glassblowing, animation, web, interactive, and sound design.

Chapter 03 · Broadcast

Channel 3

I got my start in broadcast TV at Channel 3 in Cleveland, creating on-air graphics packages.

My favorite projects were the Indians and Browns show openers: big, fast, and seen by the whole city. I also redesigned the Studio C set, my first chance to design a full physical space. Daily deadlines and real audiences made it a crash course in making things look great on screen. Eventually I outgrew it and wanted to build bigger worlds.

Chapter 04 · Going solo

Founding Photonic

So I started my own studio, back in the days of long 3D modeling, rendering and revisions, before AI.

From there Photonic moved into AR, VR and interactive work. Then I focused back on what I love most: animation and video. The mission never changed. It's beautiful communication: take products that are hard to explain and make them easy to see.

Chapter 05 · Now

Photonic Studio

3D animation and AI video for companies with complex products: manufacturing, aerospace, medical, engineering, architecture and broadcast.

When AI arrived, I went all in and fused it with my 3D pipeline. Product films, TV spots and trade show video. I build your product in 3D once, then reuse it in AI-driven shots that make every project after it faster and more affordable.

Chapter 06 · Play

Building games

When I'm not making product films, I'm building worlds for fun.

Rage on the Lake is my retro Cleveland mystery game on Google Play, and Golden Wok Buffet is my game on Roblox. I also make custom 3D creations for my Etsy shop, with Action Hero Store coming soon.
